On February 25, the "2nd China Agrochemical Industry High-Quality Development Conference", hosted by the China Crop Protection Industry Association (CCPIA), was successfully held in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. The event featured opening remarks from Li Zhonghua, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of CCPIA; Deng Jianping, Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Agrochemical General Station; Sun Yulai, Director of the Yangkou Chemical Industry Park Management Committee in Rudong County; and Xue Jian, Chairman of Nantong Jiangshan Agrochemical & Chemicals Co., Ltd. The conference was chaired by Duan Yousheng, Assistant Secretary-General of CCPIA.
With the theme "Deepening Green and Digital Upgrades to Stimulate New Momentum for High-Quality Development" , the conference brought together experts and industry representatives from the government, industry associations, agrochemical industrial parks, agrochemical production enterprises, and academic and research institutions. Discussions focused on addressing industry challenges and promoting high-quality development within the agrochemical sector.
Li Zhonghua, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of CCPIA
The recently released No. 1 Central Agricultural Policy Document by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs outlines key initiatives for advancing the green transformation of agriculture and promoting high-quality agricultural development. The policy calls for cleaner agricultural production and the development of eco-friendly, low-carbon agriculture.
Li Zhonghua emphasized that, in the face of multiple domestic and international challenges, the agrochemical industry must continue to implement the principles set forth in the Central Economic Work Conference. This includes balancing international competitive pressures with domestic structural issues while advancing the sector's transition toward low-carbon, digital, and high-end development. He highlighted the need for a dual strategy of technological innovation and green transformation to enhance the industry’s overall competitiveness.
launch of the China Carbon Disclosure Platform of Agricultural Chemicals
During the conference, CCPIA and Carbon Newture jointly launched the China Carbon Disclosure Platform of Agricultural Chemicals—the world’s first public platform dedicated to addressing climate change risks in the agrochemical sector. The initiative aims to facilitate the industry's transition toward green, high-quality, and low-carbon development.
In addition, CCPIA, along with leading agrochemical enterprises, issued the "Intiative for Low-Carbon Transition and High-Quality Green Development in China's Agrochemical Industry" to collectively promote the industry's green and low-carbon development.
According to FAO statistics, without the use of agrochemicals, global crop yield losses could reach 70%. As the "invisible guardian" of modern agriculture, agrochemical products play an irreplaceable role in ensuring food security. However, carbon emissions from traditional production methods have become a key bottleneck restricting the industry's high-quality development.
To address these challenges, Carbon Newture, in collaboration with CCPIA, has created an industry-level "dual carbon information hub"—the China Agrochemical Industry Dual Carbon Information Disclosure Platform. Leveraging digital technology, the platform consolidates dual carbon data across the sector to support agrochemical enterprises in their green and low-carbon transition, strengthen corporate collaboration and data sharing, and help businesses navigate green trade barriers.
Four key modules: driving green industry development
The platform is built around four core modules: Carbon Disclosure, Standards & Information, Carbon Reduction, and Carbon Finance. By utilizing blockchain technology, it establishes a secure, decentralized, and transparent carbon information disclosure database for the agrochemical industry. This ensures data security, traceability, and third-party verification compliance, while also aligning with international and domestic carbon accounting standards. The platform facilitates the adoption of global sustainability standards in China and the recognition of domestic certifications abroad, making agrochemical product carbon footprints visible, traceable, and verifiable.
Additionally, the platform integrates big data, IoT, and AI to offer high-quality carbon reduction services and green transition financial support for agrochemical enterprises. This fosters the development of a sustainable, low-carbon agrochemical supply chain, accelerating the industry's green transformation.
Changemakers: showcasing leading companies in low-carbon transition
The platform features an "Changemakers Center" highlighting best practices from leading enterprises. By showcasing exemplary cases, it aims to establish industry benchmarks and encourage more companies to participate in the sector's green and low-carbon transition.
The brand center includes sections such as company profiles, climate targets, climate action overviews, and key milestones, providing a clear roadmap of industry leaders’ sustainability goals, implementation strategies, and achievements.
Intiative for Low-Carbon Transition and High-Quality Green Development in China's Agrochemical Industry
CCPIA, in collaboration with leading agrochemical enterprises, has initiated the "Intiative for Low-Carbon Transition and High-Quality Green Development in China's Agrochemical Industry". This strategic move aims to explore new industry pathways toward innovation and sustainability, marking a significant step toward the sector’s sustainable development.
Key participants in this initiative include Plant Protection Industry Low-Carbon Alliance, Fuhua Tongda Chemicals, Syngenta China, Bayer Crop Science China, Dow Chemical China, Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical, Beijing KingAgroot, Nantong Taihe Chemicals, and other major agrochemical enterprises.
The launch of the China Carbon Disclosure Platform of Agricultural Chemicals marks a new milestone in the sector’s green transition. Looking ahead, Carbon Newture is committed to working with all stakeholders in the Chinese agrochemical industry to drive innovation and shape a greener future together!
